L6 Research

Sketchbook
L6 2023-2024
This shows the bulk of my research, and the importance of experimentation and making as my main form of research in my practice.

Artist Research
Hendl Helen Mirra
Thinking about folded clothes in regards to hill roll piece - how these exist in a space at what it conveys to have them folded
the minimal use of textile to convey somewhat of a sculptural form
flat form becoming scultural - use of ‘humble materials’

mapping movements - walking in the countryside - textile natural material
use of found pallets in compositions
wool blankets creating a scene
and how that changes once the textile is folded
feel similar in my sence of currently living in a city detached from making in the countryside - and also an ability to let work make itself - i feel once an idea is conceptualised i must let it make itself
interesting feelings about walking and buddhism - i was buddhist for 7 years -  interest in accesible action and its realtion to art

Artist Research
Radical Landscapes

Whilst this book and exhibition were more influential to me earlier in my course i still go back to it, seeing it as my entry point into understanding connections of the landscape and the rural into contemporary art. Particularly the works of Tanoa Sasraku, Ingird Pollard, the Kibbo Kift etc. in regards to uses of textile, banner works, and cultural identity.
